Wain Estates colleagues roll up their sleeves to transform St Helens school

Twenty-one colleagues from across Wain Group rolled up their sleeves to help transform a St Helens school ahead of the new academic year.

The team spent two days at PACE, part of the St Helens Alternative Provision Service, painting corridors and classrooms and helping refresh the school’s learning spaces before pupils return for the new term.

PACE provides short-term educational placements for children aged five to 11 who may be experiencing barriers to accessing mainstream education. The school offers a safe, supportive environment where pupils can rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.

The project was organised through Wain Group’s Helping Hands initiative, which gives colleagues the opportunity to volunteer their time to support organisations and projects in the communities where they operate.

Wain Group Legal Director Nina Chesworth, who took part in the volunteering days, said: “It was great to step away from our usual day-to-day roles and spend time working alongside colleagues from across Wain Group on something that will have a real benefit to the school.

“Everyone was keen to get stuck in and, by the end of the two days, you could really see the difference. The classrooms and corridors looked completely transformed, creating a brighter environment for pupils and staff ahead of the new school year.”

PACE Headteacher Michael Power said: “We are extremely grateful to the team from Wain Group for their time, effort and enthusiasm.

“The work they have completed has made a real difference to our school, creating fresh, clean spaces for the start of the new term. It is wonderful to see local businesses investing time in their communities, and we are very grateful for their support.”
