Work has begun to demolish a set of redundant 1950’s buildings in preparation for the next phase of Carrington Village.
A detailed application for ten state of the art, energy efficient buildings that would provide 268,000 sq ft of employment space has been submitted for the southern portion of the site. With the northern portion of the site forming part of ‘The Meadow’ which has outline planning permission for in the region of 160 homes to be delivered by Anwyl Homes.
Wain Estates Managing Director of Development, Jack Brister, said: “We are keen to progress this next phase of the Carrington Village development and are working with our contractors on demolition and preparatory works.
“We are liaising closely with the council and the parish council to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum.”
Demolition experts Squibb Group have been appointed to carry out the works which include:
· Erecting hoarding and fencing to secure the site
· Stripping out of all non-structural items within the buildings
· Demolition of the buildings to ground floor slab level
· Removal of floor slabs and foundations
· Crushing and stockpiling of suitable materials for recycling/reuse in future development.
Jack added: “Part of the contract is ensuring we are a good neighbour and measures are in place to minimise any disruption to local residents and we aim to reuse us much material as possible.
“Detailed discussions are on going with Trafford Council about this exciting project and we continue to work with them to bring forward these proposals.”
